Commercial robot navigation

Navigation software, sensor integration and field deployment for humanoid service robots in public spaces.

2020 to 2022 · Commercial deployments · 2020–2022

Service humanoids running autonomously on the Exness stand in Dubai, navigating a floor full of people and furniture. Deployment work at Expert Hub Robotics, where I built the navigation stack and led the on-site rollout.
Status

Deployment footage and a venue mapping demonstration show the commercial work. Source code is not published on this portfolio.

01 — The system

What it does

Service robots localise, map their venues and support visitor guidance in public environments. The software integrates ROS, GMapping, LiDAR and 3D obstacle sensing with vendor SDKs and voice assistance.

Engineering ownership

My contribution

  • Built navigation software and integrated sensing, mapping and vendor interfaces.
  • Led a three-engineer team and deployments of 30+ robots for 10+ enterprise clients, including a six-month run at Expo 2020 Dubai.
  • Recovered localisation on site as crowd conditions changed and supported customer operations.

Engineering for the venue

Integrate the robot stack

Connected ROS mapping and navigation with LiDAR, 3D obstacle sensing and vendor interfaces to support visitor guidance.

Keep localisation usable in crowds

Supported deployments on site and recovered localisation as the venue and crowd conditions changed.

Deliver with a team

Progressed from founding robotics engineer to senior engineer and project lead, coordinating a three-engineer team and enterprise deployments.
